The Somatics of Landscape
“What if performing arts provided a counterpoint to the privatisation of landscapes, a new common, a collective experience of nature based on time and attention?”
This is one of the questions proposed by the European project PERFORMING LANDSCAPE, which through the performance piece ‘Shared Landscapes’ creates an experience in which the performing arts are inserted into the forests of 8 different countries through the work of 7 theatre companies that collectively make up a 7-hour piece.
The article ‘The Somatics of Landscape’ is a consequence of our work on the project as a member of the scientific committee representing the TEMPORADA ALTA festival.
The article is part of the theoretical body of PERFORMING LANDSCAPE together with other authors such as Amaranta Fontcuberta, Leila Chakroun, Frédérique Aït-Touati, Karin Harrasser or Joana Braga. You can access all the articles here.
Thanks to Caroline Barneaud and Stefan Kaegi for the concept and curatorship of the piece SHARED LANDSCAPES and its associated research project.
